Try These 5 Vermouth Cocktails For Classy Winter Sipping

Perhaps one of the classiest liquors you’ll find on the shelves of your local liquor store is Vermouth. It’s made by infusing red or white wine with flowers, herbs, and spices. It’s usually much sweeter than your average wine thanks to the secret ingredient: sugar cane or caramelized sugar. Depending on the amount of sugar added, it comes in either dry or sweet varieties. And it makes a fancy (yet affordable) addition to your home cocktail bar. If you want to kick up your winter festivities a notch or two – or maybe impress a date who you’ve invited home – try one of these excellent vermouth cocktails recipes.

Dry Martini

You can’t go wrong with an old standby like the Dry Martini. Mix 2 ½ parts Tanqueray Gin with ½ part Tosti Dry Vermouth. Add a dash of your favorite orange bitters and a twist of lemon, and garnish with a Spanish olive. Goes perfect with a little black dress.

Rob Roy Perfect

The alluring red of this cocktail, plus the delicious contrasts of cherry, bourbon and rye whiskey makes this cocktail equally delightful to look at or drink. 2 parts Finger Lakes Mckenzie Rye Whiskey, ½ part Tosti Dry Vermouth, ½ part Gancia Sweet Vermouth, 2 dashes bitters, 1 whole cherry, and a twist of lemon. Make sure to drink this one with someone extra special. Fun fact: if this sounds a lot like the recipe for a Manhattan cocktail, it is!

Cajun Vodkatini

If you really want to spice things up, this is a gorgeous looking cocktail to try. Combine 2 ½ parts pepper-infused Absolut Peppar with ½ part Tosti Dry Vermouth. Depending on how bold you are, you can put everything from a slice of jalapeno to an entire habanero chili in your martini glass. In fact, the fruitiness of the habanero would probably go really well with the pepperiness of the vodka. If you dare.

Vermouth Cassis

This rich, delectable dessert of a drink is too much to resist. Almost. Take 3 parts Tosti Dry Vermouth, 3 parts soda water, 1 part Mari Brizard Crème de Cassis and garnish with a lemon peel. See if you can stop at one.

Dry Cold Deck

Cognac, Vermouth, and Crème de menthe combine for a flavorful and extravagant cocktail that’s sure to please the palate. You’ll need 2 parts of your preferred Cognac, 1 ½ parts Tosti Dry Vermouth, and ½ part of your favorite Crème de menthe. Glasses up!
