Most of Brazilian vineyards located in the south of the country, namely, in the state Rio Grande do Sul. Only 7% of vineyards are planted with high quality European grape varieties, the rest being American or hybrid vines. The latter are easier to grow in Brazilian climatic conditions. Hybrid grapes are used for production of various types of table wine, which still dominates Brazilian wine market.
