Pumpkin Alcoholic Drinks Recipes

From pumpkin spice lattes to homemade pumpkin wine, this popular gourd is definitely the vegetable of the season. The entire nation goes wild for pumpkin in the fall, but no one more than Midwesterners, a region abundant with pumpkins. Pumpkin pie is great for a not-too-sweet treat, and pumpkin with ricotta makes a fantastic savory dinner, but the best way to enjoy this seasonal flavor is with a delicious pumpkin cocktail.

This fall, bundle up in front of the fire (or radiator) with a thick blanket and these delicious bourbon or vodka pumpkin cocktail recipes.

Spiced Pumpkin Bourbon Punch

This Spiced Pumpkin Bourbon Punch recipe is full of pumpkin flavor with notes of lemon, honey, and fresh ginger. Although the name punch makes many think of a pitcher, this recipe is from one cocktail. Yield: 1

1 oz. pumpkin puree

1 tsp. honey

1 oz. fresh lemon juice

2 oz. bourbon

3 oz. ginger beer

⅛ tsp. grated fresh ginger

⅛ tsp. ground cinnamon

1 cinnamon stick

Sage leaves

1.Pour all of the ingredients, except the sage, into a cocktail shaker or rocks glass (with another making a lid), and shake vigorously. You can also mix it up with a teaspoon, stirring well.

2.Put ice in another rocks glass and strain the ingredients from mixing over the ice in the glass.

3.Garnish the cocktail with your cinnamon stick, the sage leaves, and a few dashes of cinnamon on top.

The White Pumpkin

Although The White Pumpkin does not have any warmed ingredients, sipping on this vodka pumpkin cocktail will make you feel nice and cozy. This pumpkin cocktail has a creamy texture, as it features pumpkin butter, Kahlua, and heavy cream. The special ingredient in The White Pumpkin is the RamazzottiAmaro, which adds orange and cinnamon notes to the drink. Yield: 2

1 oz. RamazzottiAmaro

1 oz. vodka

1 ½ oz. Kahlua

1 ½ oz. heavy cream

4 Tbsp. pumpkin butter

Grated nutmeg

1.Fill a cocktail shaker or rocks glass with ice and add the RamazzottiAmaro, Kahlua, vodka, heavy cream, and pumpkin butter. Shake the mixture until you feel that it is sufficiently chilled, which should be about 15 seconds.

2.Strain the pumpkin cocktail mixture into another rocks glass, but this time do not fill that rocks glass with ice.

3.Garnish by sprinkling grated nutmeg over the top (bonus points if it’s freshly grated nutmeg).
