Gather round beneath the mistletoe folks – it’s December, which means the holidays are here! Between going on vacation, special family dinners, and possibly being snowed in, there’s going to be a lot of booze consumed this month. But who says you have to drink your booze? At Liquor Barn, we like to eat it too. Since it’s the holiday season we have a bit of a sweet tooth, so we figured we would share a few of our favorite boozy dessert recipes. Treat yourself!
Stout Gingerbread Cake
There is something warm and nostalgic about having a spicy, chewy, frosted gingerbread man cookie. Why not kick it up a notch? This awesome recipe takes the yummy ginger and cinnamon combo that’s always stoked up those memories at grandma’s kitchen table and combines it with a hearty stout like Guiness for a more sophisticated and elegant take. For an extra intense flavor, try adding a pinch of cayenne pepper to the mix.
Frangelico Hazelnut Chocolate Mousse
If you’re a Nutella freak and have never tried this recipe before, you’ll be exclaiming, “Where have you been all my life?!” as you spoon this delicious mousse into your mouth. You’ll need to have hazelnut-infused Frangelico liqueur on hand for this recipe to reach its glorious boozy apex. And whatever you don’t mix into dessert, you can keep for sipping later! If you’re not that into hazelnuts, this recipe also goes great with Amaretto.
Whiskey Pecan Pie
Pecan pie should always have a place at the dinner table this time of year. The molten texture while it’s warm, the indulgent vanilla, and toasted pecans are a heaven-sent combination. And everyone knows that the best pecan pie recipe needs a touch of whiskey to bring it up an extra notch. Try Johnnie Walker Double Black for a nice bite in your pie.
Bourbon Bread Pudding
Bread pudding is the ultimate comfort dessert: loads of chewy bread, sticky sweet glaze, rich butter, and warm spices to spread that holiday warmth from head to toe. This bread pudding recipe goes the extra mile by calling for the introduction of your favorite bourbon to give it a kick. You can’t go wrong with Jack Daniels.
Eggnog Cheesecake Bars
How could this list be incomplete without eggnog? The key is always to have just enough to get you tipsy, without getting sick (it’s a fine line, as most of us can attest). This yummy recipe asks for you to use rum extract, but there’s no point skipping that part. For the best flavor, use a spiced rum such as Captain Morgan’s.
