There are several distinct wine regions in the country, the most important of which are located in the provinces of Mendoza, San Juan and La Rioja. There are many different varieties of grapes cultivated in Argentina. Malbec makes most of Argentina's best known wines. Torrontés is another typical Argentine grape varietal. Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Chardonnay and other international varieties are becoming more widely planted.
