Italy is home to some of the oldest wine-producing regions in the world and is the world's largest wine producer. Italy's wine classification system is somewhat similar to that of France. Italy's twenty wine regions correspond to the twenty administrative regions. The 36 DOCG wines (highest quality appellation wines) are located in 13 different regions but most of them are concentrated in Piedmont and Tuscany. Among these are appellations appreciated and sought after by wine lovers around the world: Barolo, Barbaresco, and Brunello di Montalcino. There are over 350 documented indigenous grape varieties in Italy. International grape varieties are also widely grown.
