Colonel Edmund Haynes Taylor, Jr. was one of the most influential figures in 19th-century bourbon. He bought the distillery he called O.F.C. in 1869, on the Frankfort site that is now Buffalo Trace, and he was a leading voice behind the Bottled-in-Bond Act of 1897, one of the first U.S. consumer protection laws, guaranteeing what was in the bottle. To carry the bonded label, a bourbon must come from one distiller at one distillery in a single distilling season, age at least four years in a federally bonded warehouse and be bottled at exactly 100 proof. E.H. Taylor Small Batch follows those rules, and each batch is blended from a small number of selected barrels.
