St. Patrick’s Day Cocktails
St. Patrick’s Day is a great reason to throw a party and finally break the celebration lull between the winter holidays and Fourth of July. You don’t have to be Irish to enjoy St. Patrick’s Day, but holiday themed cocktails and drinks will help you get into the spirit. Make sure you stock up on plenty of Irish whiskey, Irish cream, and Irish Mist (and don’t forget the Guinness).
The Black Nail is classic Irish drink made with Bushmills Irish whiskey and Irish Mist, which gives it an herbal tone. This is a simple drink to make, which is helpful as the day progresses, but still makes for the perfect sipper.
The Pot of Gold is a vodka cocktail that is a bit more complex than The Black Nail, as it has five ingredients. The ginger beer and mint provide an interesting, fresh flavor combination.
If you really want to get Irish this St. Patrick’s Day, whip up the Giant’s Gate Cocktail. This drink is made with Irish whiskey, egg, lime, and cardamom pods. The serving glass is also rinsed with Guinness Stout.
A Black and Red is a variation of the popular Manhattan, but it requires Black Bush, a sweeter Irish whiskey. Although it is similar (or the same) as a common drink, the Black and Red is all about complex flavor profiles and will bring something new to your repertoire.
The Shamrock Shaker is a creamy cocktail, a mix of coffee and almond flavored liqueurs and a splash of milk. The edible gold and green powder garnish is a great touch for St. Paddy’s Day celebrations.
