Baseball season cocktail recipes

Baseball season has officially begun and is now in full swing, which means it is officially spring in America. Baseball has the uncanny ability to engage a nation, across the nation. Nothing brings people together like the American pastime. Chicagoans finally have baseball teams worthy of delicious baseball cocktails, but we have enjoyed these great recipes for many years, even during… less inspiring years.

This year is the second act of the Chicago Cubs domination of the National League, and at the time of writing, the Chicago White Sox are first in the American League Central. Now that captivating games have returned to our hometown, Chicago is celebrating with these great baseball cocktail recipes. Not from Chicago? No worries, we deliver to your door - no matter which team you support!

Hall of Famer

Yield: 1

Ingredients:

1 ½ oz. gin

¾ oz. vermouth

¾ oz. dry vermouth

2 dashes orange bitters

3 mint leaves

Note: For extra flavor, take half an orange wheel and cut it into three pieces, and muddle in the bottom of the shaker before adding ingredients

Directions:

1.Combine the gin, both vermouths, orange bitters and mint leaves in a shaker filled with ice.

2.Shake gently and strain into a cocktail glass.

Home Run

Yield: 4

Ingredients:

3 oz. rum

½ oz. Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao

¼ oz. grenadine

1 oz. fresh lemon juice

Orange twist, for garnish

Directions:

1.Combine the rum, Pierre Ferrand Dry Curaçao, grenadine, and lemon juice in a shaker, and fill with ice.

2.Shake and strain into an Old Fashioned glass, or a rocks glass, and fill the remainder of the glass with crushed ice.

3.Garnish with the orange twist.

Double Header

Yield: 4

Ingredients:

6 oz. tequila

4 oz. fresh lime juice

16 oz. orange juice (if fresh squeezed, you will need 11 oranges)

4 oz. Cointreau or triple sec

Rim Garnish Ingredients:

1 tsp. orange zest

2 tsp. sugar

1 Tbsp. kosher salt

Directions:

1.On a small plate, combine the rim garnish ingredients.

2.Rub a section of a juiced lime on the rim of the glass to moisten it, and dip the rim into the garnish mixture.

3.The cocktails will be created one at a time. Add a few cubes of ice to each glass.

4.Combine 1 ½ oz. of tequila, 1 oz. of lime juice, 4 oz. orange juice, and 1 oz. Cointreau/triple sec. Stir to mix.

5.Repeat with each cocktail and serve immediately.
